Wheels Up, a private aviation company backed by stars such as Tom Brady, Serena Williams and Kevin Durant, recently partnered with Delta Air Lines to offer Delta One Passengers a luxury travel option this summer, as reported for the first time. The collaboration allows passengers to fly Delta one in five important European cities: Nice, France; Naples, Italy; Athens, Greece; Barcelona; and Rome: the option to address a private flight to reach its final destination after its commercial flight.
The new program intends to direct a growing demand for personalized trips in the era after pandemic. When flying privately, travelers can jump airports full of people and long security lines, and can generally reach the airport shortly before the exit.
Wheels Up, based in Atlanta, underwent a great transformation when Delta Air Lines bought a 95 percent participation in the company in 2023. The acquisition intended to stabilize the financial wheels, promote future growth and train the company to operate one of the largest private aircraft fleets in the United States. Since then, Wheels UP has invested in the modernization of its airplanes and introduced a flexible reserve and cancellation window of 72 hours.
One of the distinctive characteristics of Wheels UP is its membership model and its first digital approach. Members can book private planes through a mobile application, an online movement with the vision of former CEO Kenny Dichter of becoming the “… the Airbnb, the open table or the hotel tonight of private aviation.” The company offers several levels of membership, including a Connect membership that allows members to access flight exchange options. While you do not need to be a member to reserve a flight of wheels, the individual itineraries of the letter are subject to dynamic prices.
In addition to Delta Air Lines, the company is also backed by a bit of Power Star. Brady, a brand ambassador, was one of the first investors in the company, and other celebrities associated with the UP wheels include the star of Country Darius Rucker and the Espn Scott Van Pelt commentator.
The company is also using its brand promoted by celebrities forever. In 2020, Wheels Up and the field marshal of the New York Giants, Russell Wilson, launched Meals Up, providing tens of millions of meals in association with the non -profit organization Feeding America. Sustainability is also a priority for the company, and recently launched a sustainable aviation fuel program with Delta, allowing customers to support the purchase of SAF, which, compared to traditional aviation fuel, generates dramatically lower carbon emissions.
