I coordinate private-jet travel that costs up $40,000 for rock stars, government employees, and even animals. Here’s what my job is like.

  • Andy Christie is a group-privado-chief director who calls himself a “pairing”.
  • He says he has dealt with a good amount of extravagant demands of rock and ultra -stars.
  • This is how it began and how is her work, as told to the writer Jenny Powers.

This logging essay is based on a conversation transcribed with Andy Christie, a 45-year-old group-private director of Surbiton, England, about his work. It has been edited by length and clarity.

If you break it into the simplest terms, I am a casamero.

As a group-private director-chiefs for the service of the air letter, it is my work to find the ideal coincidence between the travel requirements of our client and our extensive network of charter operators, which has access to everything, from helicopters, jets private and executive airplanes to air ambulances, emergency response letters and load aircraft.

After graduating from the University of Gloudeshire, I became a personal coach and directed a great health club, but the aviation industry fascinated me. Since the private jet industry seemed much more exciting than that of commercial aviation, I assumed the post of apprentices, which is one of the best ways to start in business because you can learn everything there is to know the air characteristics industry.

Like the low man in the totem, I spent a lot of time and sometimes exhausting days calling possible clients to build my own business book. At that time, he was one of the only 13 staff members divided by three countries.

Today, as the largest brokerage of Carter Private, we are 500 strong with 27 international offices on six continents representing 50 languages, a set of crucial skills that are useful when it comes to foreign contracts, partners worldwide and calls of 2 2 Am management agents abroad.

These days, personally supervise 130 runners in the United States, Australia, Brazil, Kazakhstan and everywhere. We organize around 23,000 national and international flights per year.

My working day officially begins at 6 in the morning, but I am on duty 24/7 unless I am on vacation.

My days are accelerated and include a variety of responsibilities related to problem solving, logistics, strategy and growth of our business.

Most people equate the private jet trips with ultra -people, and although that is certainly most of our business, we also have flights at more moderate prices, for example, Teterboro, New Jersey, to Hamptons in New York or Miami to the Bahamas ($ 3,000 in each direction) and our most popular route, Los Angeles to Las Vegas ($ 6,000 to $ 10,000 in each direction).

That said, I have certainly had my right part of very extravagant demands.

Despite all my years at work, every day it causes a scenario that I have never found before

There was an American guest who diverted his private half to make a stop at a local KFC to satisfy his sudden cravings.

Then, there was a last minute request from a woman from the Middle East who went to Paris for a weekend shopping excursion, just to rent a cargo plane to carry all her purchases back to the United Arab Emirates.

There was also a woman who flew from California to Texas and returned with two days in the middle to fix her hair, opting for the most expensive option of heavy jets (round trip of $ 40,000) due to her high cabin, which according to She helped him claustrophobia.

And let’s not forget the legendary rock star, who when leaving his brand hat recorded in Europe sent a member of his staff to fly, recover it and deliver it personally in the United States.

In addition to these exaggerated requests, we have also gathered families and pets, we take cancer patients to their medical treatments, we take a 12 -day London baby to Gibraltar for emergency surgery and even transported wild lions, Delfines and orphaned puppies to sanctuaries and zoos.

During our 30 years in the business, we have also played an integral role that regularly supports non -governmental agencies, help agencies and governments by coordinating load letters full of heavy vehicles, blankets, tents, personal protective equipment and vaccines.

We have helped with help efforts difficult to achieve that scheduled services cannot access, such as natural disasters. In these cases, we have given humanitarian aid in the form of food, medicine and supplies to those affected by cyclones in Myanmar, earthquakes in Haiti and Nepal, and a hurricane in Puerto Rico.

Over the years, the demand for private air trips has experienced droughts, waves and auges based on the economy and what is happening worldwide.

When Covid-19 hit, the commercial air suddenly stopped to a dead point, which proved to be an unexpected impulse for organizations like ours, since private jet trips continue safely until a few minutes before blockages.

The biggest difference between now and before the pandemic is the amount of paperwork required due to additional health and safety regulations, which makes everything a bit more complicated and a bit slower.

We have found a dramatic increase in private jet clients for the first time. For those who can pay private jet trips, time is no longer a restriction because it is not obliged to be at another person’s schedule. Essentially, what people are finding is that money can buy them time, since it allows them to come and go as they want.

In this business, there are many things that are difficult to predict, but one thing that I know with certainty is that once I have experienced what it is to arrive 15 minutes before its flight comes out and adds without any discomfort, it will be enough Difficult to return to commercial trips.
