Elon Musk has had an busy year. He presented the Tesla Robotaxi, his net worth exceeded $ 400 billion, and became the “first friend” of President -elect Donald Trump.
Its private planes also spent about 881 hours crossing the world.
To help shed light on how the richest man in the world spent his time in 2024, Business Insider drew private trips from Musk’s jets using the Jet follow -up service jetspy.
In total, Musk’s two private Gulfstream aircraft made 355 flights between January and mid -December of this year.
The data helps to reveal how extensively Musk has buried in Trumpworld and, together with his next advice with the new White House and millions of dollars in donations, provides another window to his growing political participation.
Musk did not respond to a request for comments for this story.
The plane trip may have been an early track that the billionaire was approaching Trump.
On February 17, one of Musk’s airplanes took its first flight of the year to Palm Beach International Airport, about 5 miles from Trump’s residence in Mar-A-Lago. Three months later, the Wall Street Journal was the first to report that Trump and Musk had talked about a possible advice role in the event that the former president won re -election.
In total, Musk’s Jets made 31 flights to or from Palm Beach International Airport in 2024.
It is not clear if Musk was on each flight tracked. Nor is it clear if I could have visited the Palm Beach area, Florida, for reasons other than a meeting with Trump. Twenty -five of the 31 flights of the Palm Beach area were after Trump’s electoral victory. The other flights took place between February and March. More than half of the jets trips since November 5 have involved flying to or from the area.
Musk has been photographed several times with Trump in Mar-A-Lago, even at a Thanksgiving dinner.
After the official support from Musk to Trump, his aircraft also made 13 trips to and from the swing states, including several cities of Pennsylvania and Georgia. Tesla CEO aircraft also made ten trips to and from an airport near Washington, DC.
In total, 54 of the 355 flights involved traveled to and from the Palm Beach, Washington area and the swing states. In 2023, in comparison, his planes traveled to and from an airport near Washington 16 times.

In 2022, Musk began using a federal program that allows private aircraft owners covering up their trips with a temporary number of aircraft registration, and their aircraft have used the service since then.
This year, Musk’s plane used a “direction of privacy ICAO” for 17 flights, according to Jetspy. On the night of the elections, a pia was used to fly to West Palm Beach. The service was used for several flights in June to and from a Memphis airport near a data center for the Musk XAI Startup, an installation that the city announced that same month. (Jetspy does not depend solely on the data of the Federal Aviation Administration, which enable It is to track flights that use pia).
In addition to the policy -related trips, the main destinations of the airplanes in 2024 included airports in Hawthorne, California, and Brownsville, Texas, which are near the Spacex sites. They also often flew to an airport in Austin, near Tesla’s headquarters and one of Musk’s houses.
Airplanes also flew abroad to France, Poland, Germany, Portugal, Indonesia, China and the United Kingdom. Musk visited Paris for the reopening of the Olympic Games and Notre-Dame, as well as Bali for a Starlink launch.
The two airplanes used around $ 2.5 million in fuel and issued almost 4,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide in 2024, according to JetSPY data. According to the International Energy Agency, that is approximately 250 times what the average person in the United States issues during their life.
The longest registered flight between the two Musk aircraft was 10 hours, from Seattle to Tokyo, in May. Musk aircraft also took several fast flights, including nine flights that lasted less than 10 minutes, although some of these were probably the pilot’s result by repositioning the plane. The average flight time for the two planes was approximately two hours.
Even so, despite his global trips, 2024 was relatively quiet: last year, the planes registered 456 flights.
